SP MLA Booked for ‘Attacking’ Power Department Employee Following Outage in UP

A FIR has been enlisted against Samajwadi Party MLA Ashutosh Maurya for supposedly attacking a power division representative and tearing office register in Budaun locale of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday. MLA from the Bisauli electorate Ashutosh Maurya, when reached, denied the charges and said he had gone to the power sub-station in the night after inhabitants griped of an undeclared blackout.

As indicated by the police, the FIR was enlisted in view of a protest recorded by Bisauli sub-station administrator (SSO) Abhishek Mishra. Mishra affirmed that the SP MLA arrived at the sub-station at 12.30 Thursday night and requested the list register. The SSO said in his objection that the administrator attacked him and “when a few partners made video of his demonstration, the MLA grabbed their cell phones, mishandled them and tore the workplace register.” A video of the occurrence has circulated around the web via web-based entertainment.

Administrator of Police (Rural) Siddharth Verma said that taking cognisance of the objection and the viral video, a body of evidence has been enrolled against SP MLA Maurya and someone else and the matter is being examined. When reached, MLA Maurya completely denied attacking the SSO.

“Local people whined that power supply was being redirected to a private cold stockpiling by halting the inventory to neighborhoods, following which I went to the substation and requested a program and lock book, however the worker there made trouble with me,” he said. “The charges evened out against me are unmerited.
