Staying cool and comfy at all times

Keeping your house, and yourself, cool and comfy is key, especially in the infamous Indian summer.

Now, the first and most obvious solution that comes to mind is using an air conditioner. However, a downside to it is also the fact that it raises your electricity bills exponentially.

Being money-conscious however, does not necessarily mean having to endure the summer without respite. There are several other easy and cheap ways you can use to keep yourself and your homes comfortable this summer, without burning a hole in your pockets.

6-Step plan to beat the heat at home

Here are six tips and tricks to stay cool this summer, on a budget.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Always stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day in the summers. Every once in a while, you could even consider switching things up and sipping on a cold beverage such as iced tea or lemonade to cool off.

  • Make use of the shade wherever you can.

When the sun is out and about, draw the shades. Make use of thermal-blocking drapes to block out excessive sunlight and heat, and keep your home cool and dark.

  • Opt for an indoor fan

Indoor cooling is not necessarily limited to AC. Cooling happens not just when the air is cooled, but also when air is circulated well. For this, we’ve got one word for you – fans. Ideally, any given room, depending on its size, needs to have at least one to two fans. These help ensure much-required airflow in your rooms in the summers.

  • Soak in the tub

If you happen to be someone who perspires a lot in the heat, consider taking a cool shower or a soak in the tub at least twice every day, during the summer.

  • Use cross-ventilation

Increasing the air circulation in your home to keep it cool, is as simple as opening windows and doors on opposite sides. This allows outside air to circulate more freely within the home, which helps keep it cool.

Having said that though, please also consider using the air conditioning system in your homes regularly. No matter the season, it can keep your home cool and comfortable, or even warm, depending on your needs. To maximize efficiency, make sure to use it at the correct temperature settings, as recommended. Because while it may be slightly expensive, it is also just about as effective as cooling solutions get.

With these simple tips and tricks, you can enjoy a cool and pleasant home at all times, this summer, no matter how hot it may get. Being mindful of your body and taking steps to keep the same in check will help you avoid it overheating. Maintaining your peace of mind will be a breeze if you stick to these measures consistently. Enjoy your summers to the fullest.
